The time has come for Junior High Work Camp! Here's the skinny..
It's going to be a little different this year, due to recent events in Joplin. We've had to wait a little longer so things could get a little more under control up there, and also due to the longer school year.
So...
WHEN? June 14-15
WHO? Anyone currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
WHAT? Tuesday, we will work for one or more of our Golden Eagles, doing yard work, landscaping, etc. Wednesday, however, we will venture up to Joplin and serve in a capacity TBA. NOTE: On this trip to Joplin, we will be taking SENIOR HIGH as well. We need all the help with this trip we can get, and what an amazing opportunity for everybody! That night, we will worship at the Church of Christ there in Joplin. WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT OF WORSHIP THAT WILL BE..
Here's your online headquarters for news, info, pictures, and more of happenings with Robinson Avenue Youth. Subcribe, follow, leave comments, and check back in often to stay in touch and in the loop!

MEET THE INTERNS!!!
My name is Becca Hill. I'm from Hermitage, TN, which is right outside of Nashville. I'm a junior a Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN where I'm currently studying Elementary Education. I attend a campus ministry called Raiders for Christ and it has been such a huge blessing in my life! I don't know where I would be without my family and friends. They're definitely a big part of my life. I am thrilled about being a youth intern here at Robinson Avenue this summer and I can't wait to see what all God has in store. I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and doing outdoor activities like walking on the greenway, biking, and white water rafting. I got involved with the Inner City Ministry through RFC and I have enjoyed helping out with that. I love working with children of all ages. I was involved with the youth group at my home congregation, Lebanon Road Church of Christ, during my junior high and high school years and I have been involved with the college ministry at Kingwood Heights Church of Christ during my time at MTSU. I'm really looking forward to working with the Robinson Avenue youth group!
My name is Adam Elrod from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. My home congregation is outside the city in Lascassas where I’ve been most of my life. I’m an Art Education major at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). I’ll be starting my senior year when I return in the fall. I’m an active member at the Raiders For Christ (RFC), which is the student ministry on the MTSU campus. In my spare time I’ve started learning photography and hope to become a professional. My goal is to be an art teacher and a football coach.
Along with my teaching career, I hope to become a youth minister for smaller congregations and through this internship I hope to learn more about the process and work that youth ministry involves. I’d like to take what I learn here back to Tennessee and work with the churches there. I’m very excited to work with Robinson Avenue Church of Christ.
NOTE: BE SURE AND CHECK OUT THE SIGN UP SHEET ON MY DOOR TO HAVE THEM OVER TO HAVE DINNER AT YOUR HOUSE AND GET TO KNOW THEM!!

Hello all,
A little change to the calendar for this Sunday! With the point of CRAVE being to bring a bunch of people to, and with this being a holiday weekend, we're OFFICIALLY GOING TO POSTPONE CRAVE UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY NIGHT.
INSTEAD...
All of the people that are still in town will be able to do something special with the NEW INTERNS after evening church services that night..
GIRLS' NIGHT:
The ladies will be going out to eat and coming back to the church building to BAKE COOKIES and do girly things..They will need a few bucks to buy dinner. MOMS WELCOME!!!
GUYS' NIGHT:
The guys will be going bowling. They'll need money to bowl (about $8) and get a burger (cost depends on how much they eat, of course). DADS WELCOME!!
BOTH OF THESE WILL BE FROM RIGHT AFTER CHURCH UNTIL ABOUT 9! This is a great way for us to welcome and support our interns!!

YOU'RE INVITED TO HEAR JERAMY TONIGHT
Hello all,
I just wanted to invite any of you that would like to to come to the teen room tonight. Jeramy Jones is going to be sharing his story of survival and God's power to bring us through the impossible. I would really like to encourage him with as many faces in the crowd as possible. So come on out!
HONORING OUR SENIORS
The time has come to honor our graduating seniors, believe it or not folks. As in years past, we will be doing that on two occasions..
SENIOR ROAST
This will be May 12, in the Family Center at 6:30 in the evening. The cost will be $7 per person, excluding the Seniors of course, and I can assure you there's a great meal in store for you, along with some fantastic festivities. Scott Ware and Jimmy Allen will be your emcee's for the evening, so hilarity will inevitably ensue. Mrs. Passmore and her crew are working very hard to make this a memorable night for everybody!
SENIOR SUNDAY
We will also have a special portion of our Sunday morning service on May 22 dedicated to honoring our Seniors. We will be presenting them with a special, new bible, and the elders will have a special prayer time for these amazing teens and their families and future plans.
Everyone is of course invited to come and help us honor this amazing bunch of teens!
For those wanting a list of names, here they are:

SENIOR HIGH RETREAT: DIVE
The time is approaching quickly for all the hustle and bustle of the end of the school year! Along with this comes a few moments for our teens to slow down, reflect, and focus. It's so easy to lose focus on God and what He's doing, even in the midst of doing good things. Here's one of those opportunities..
WHO? All Senior High Students in our ministry AND their friends. THIS WILL INCLUDE 9th GRADE!!
WHAT? Senior High Retreat is a time for our Senior High students to get away from all the going, going, going to take a breath and set their sites on God for a few days. They will grow in their faith and gear up for the summer and coming school year. Our theme is DIVE, a study on fully trusting God with every part of their lives, their hearts, their plans, their relationships. Our theme verses will be PROVERBS 3:5,6.
WHEN? May 13-15, 2011 MEET AT 4:30, HEADING OUT AT 5:00. We will eat dinner as soon as we arrive about 7:00. Back around 12:00-12:30 on Sunday. They will not have eaten lunch yet.
WHERE? 1000 Hills in Branson, MO. There is so much to do here, I can't even begin to list it all. The part I'm most excited about: 2 words...ZIP LINE.
HOW MUCH? The cost will be posted here very soon, once we get closer to a final count. The cost will include: FOOD, LODGING, and a T-SHIRT
MORE EXCITING INFO TO BE POSTED SOON!!

CAMPOUT/COOKOUT Friday Night!
Good Monday All,
This coming Friday night, we're going to have a great night to kick off the warmer season! We're going to have a night of chilling out and coming together as a group to reconnect over some healthy hot dogs and s'mores. (This will be in place of the the "Spring Formal" you have on your calendars! When I "polled the audience" on that one, they said they would rather skip the formal dinner and skip straight to the chilling out together afterward, so I figured I wouldn't hear any complaints from parents about saving $30)
WHO? Any youth in the youth group, 7th - 12th Grade
WHAT? Camping out for the guys, and camping out (separate locale of course) OR slumber partying inside for the girls. Roasting weinies and marshmallows over a bonfire, as well. Games, etc., but mostly just some chilled out, bonding time.
WHEN? Friday night, April 15, 7:00 PM until Saturday morning, April 16, 9:00 AM. We will need to arrive and leave directly to/from the McClures' house. There will not be a van going/coming.
WHERE? The home of Aldea and Curtis McClure (3215 Eupiel Lane, Springdale)
HOW MUCH? $0.00
WHAT DO THEY BRING? Sleeping bags, bedding, pillows, etc. I would recommend NOT trying to get a bunch of showers at their house, so no need for all the shower stuff. Showering is for wimpies anyway. WE DO NEED AS MANY TENTS AS WE CAN, SO PLEASE LET THEM BRING THAT IF YOU HAVE ONE. If anyone would like to send some snacks or hot dogs/buns/mallows, etc. please let me know early in the week. It would be GREATLY appreciated!!
It's gonna be a good time, so I hope everyone can make it!!
